![]() When the 9th lord is in the 4th, it shows a great Raja Yoga in the political field (or other positions of power) and vice-versa especially in one’s homeland. Popularity, fame, influence and power have to be judged, assessed and calculated through the 4th house alone and practically no other Bhava. The 4th lord’s position in the natal chart is very crucial to the understanding of the entire chart. Secondly, the Yogas, natal planets or the Dasa will have to confer results, benefic or malefic, with respect to the 4th and the planets aspecting it. Broadly I feel that the 4th house is the bedrock of the future of an individual as it basically signifies the very existence of the native. The 4th house also signifies a frequent change of place or permanent stay at a particular place. I have empirically observed this happening and do not hesitate to subscribe to this view. An octogenarian once told me that when the 4th and 12th lords are in the 6th, the native will have Karavas Yoga (jail) for a considerable period. In modern times, human life and activity have diversified in innumerable ways which means the 4th house is not just confined to the traditional parameters: I feel the 4th also signifies one’s basic existence (astitva), growth, power, reputation, a tenure of stay, landed property and confinement(imprisonment). These significations of the 4th house are based on a time context. The 4th house generally, as per ancient texts, signifies Matru (mother), Vidya (education), Vahana (Vehicles) and Sukha (comforts and happiness in life). ![]()
